Notts Man Guilty of Abuse.

By Ben Aulakh

A 46-year-old Nottingham man who abused a position of trust to prey on young women has been found guilty.

David Phillips of Bennett Street, Long Eaton, sexually abused two 17-year-old girls in 2004 and went on to abuse one of those women again in 2007.

Mr Phillips had also sexually abused a 16-year-old girl in 2004; he was arrested following an 18-month investigation and was charged in May this year.

After his arrest in 2008 he was tried on four counts of sexual touching; despite denying all charges the jury at Nottingham Crown Court found him guilty on all counts.

Detective Inspector Kevin Buxton from Nottinghamshire Police said, “Phillips was in a position of trust in respect of all these young women.

“He preyed on the vulnerabilities of these women to fulfil his own sexual desires and at no time spared a thought for the upset that he was causing.”

All the offences were committed in the Clifton areas of the city where Mr Phillips previously lived.

The case was adjourned for pre sentencing reports; Mr Phillips was remanded in custody, he will be sentenced at Nottingham Crown Court on Friday June 4.

Mr Buxton added, “There can be no excuse for his behaviour and thanks to the bravery of these young women in coming forward, justice can now be done.”
